AboutMeaganCavasar
As a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, I have received a Bachelor of Arts in French and a Certificate in European Studies. During my time in college, I studied in Lyon and Nantes, France. My time abroad, living with host families and speaking French in every aspect of my life, taught me about French culture as well as developed my fluency in the language. I have also visited twenty-five other towns in France, gaining an even better appreciation of France’s culture, dialects and geography.
I have tutored students between the ages of eight and fifty in a variety of subjects, having worked as a private tutor, AVID tutor and substitute teacher. While studying in Nantes, I facilitated an after-school English conversation club where I taught middle and high school students. To keep students engaged and enthusiastic, I planned exercises that would appeal to various learning styles and personalities. Among other activities, I prepared worksheets, had them act out scenes, and led games.
Whether you’re taking a French course or improving your conversation skills, I can help you to become more at ease with the language. On top of grammatical and conversational assistance, I will help you to improve your pronunciation. Having studied French phonology, I can explain more clearly the mouth placement for each sound. Most of all, I hope to impart my passion for this beautiful language to my students.
I also tutor Geometry and Algebra I. Please feel free to contact me at cavasartutoring@gmail.com.

AboutMatthewRich
Born and raised in Santa Monica, my parents encouraged me at an early age to hone my skills in reading and writing. Inspired by the imaginative worlds and lessons of literature, I began writing my own fiction in kindergarten and haven't stopped since (though I have, hopefully, gotten better).
With that passion for the language arts at heart, I began tutoring in English when I was in 7th grade, doing community service for after-school programs at my old elementary school. In high school, while also a member of the Academic Decathlon team, school newspaper, and student government, I tutored my peers in English and Literature, helping primarily with essay writing for class and college entrance. Many of my classmates were accepted into the colleges of their choice after studying with me for application essays. Now, as a well-practiced writer and UCLA philosophy undergraduate, I work with college students from an array of prestigious schools, including UCLA, USC, and Berkeley.
I also have a significant amount of experience working with kids, having spent four years as a counselor at the local Rustic Canyon summer camp, and many years as a
babysitter. As a result, I know well how to build trust and understanding with children.
In my tutoring, it is not only important to me to give students the tools to succeed in the areas of school with which they struggle, but also to pass on a sense of appreciation for the work involved and its applicability in life. The range of uses for the English language, from creative to social to professional, contribute incomparable value to anybody's skill set when wielded correctly. I look forward to continuing to help others to strengthen this ability which can enrich life in so many ways.
